Why does wool shrink?
Wool clothing is made up of thousands of fibers. When you buy a new sweater, the fibers that make up the sweater are long and straight. The intensity of hot water or the agitation of the dryer break the bonds in the proteins and cause the fibers to curl up into a ball – shrinking your clothes. It’s impossible for you to see this without magnification, but trust us, it happens!
How does Unshrinkit work?
To unshrink wool, you need to straighten out the tight ball of fibers. That’s where Unshrinkit comes in! Our patent-pending product interacts with the proteins in the wool and relaxes the bonds in order to allow you to straighten out the fibers again. Once you’ve straightened the fibers, all you need to do is rinse the sweater in cold water to remove the solution. This allows the proteins to lock back into their original configuration!
